Does habitat otherness affect weatherfish <i>Misgurnus fossilis</i> reproductive traits?

The fecundity and sexual structure of weatherfish (Misgurnus fossilis) population, an inperilled protected freshwater fish with a poorly known life history, was studied in three waterbodies: the River Ner, Południowy canal Nowy Rów (Poland) differing hydrological character. We compared reproductive traits; i.e. sex ratio, absolute relative fecundity, oocyte size, gonado-somatic index body condition. In all study sites, ratio did not differ from parity (1: 1), though highest GSI values were recorded for females whilst male among sites. (FA = 2860 ± 2065) (FR 120 55 eggs per g female weight) Ner significantly lower than other two frequency distribution diameter, decomposed using Bhattacharya method, showed distinct groups equal numbers. Oocytes that ready to spawn larger canals. Fish also characterized by lowest Fulton condition (mean K 0.36 0.1). trade-off between impaired increased egg diameter may result different nature watercourses or levels endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), such as steroid compounds.
